In loving memory ~
It is with great sorrow that the family of Edith (Edie) Mary Gaudette (nee Kildaw), announces Edith's passing. Edie was predeceased by her daughter Sherry, husband Lucien (Lou), parents, Mary and Henry Kildaw and siblings Kenneth, Edna, Louise, Ruth and Aubrey.
Edie is survived by her children Darryl, Rick (Nancy), Beverly (Flora) and Lisa (Gordie). Edie had 9 grandchildren—Robert (Laura), Kirstin, Travis, Renee (Stuart), Jillian (Tristan), Douglas, Julie (Nicholas), Benjamin (Andréa), and Joshua. She was "GG" to 15 great-grandchildren—Peter, Amy, Nicholas, Jeremy, Brodie, Anna, Charlotte, Aubree, Scarlett, Lena, Matthew, Lily, Quincy, Violet and Rafael.
Edie leaves behind her sisters Helmay (Arnold), Fern (Gerald), Elaine, brothers Clarence and Terry (Yvonne), sister-in-law Shirley and many, many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Edie was born in Medstead, Saskatchewan. She was the 5th of eleven siblings. She met and married Lou and they eventually made their way to Prince Rupert, and then Port Edward, where they raised their 5 children. They also raised their granddaughter, Renee. Edie was a loving mother and created a warm and cozy home for her family along with a lifetime of precious memories that will ever sustain us.
After Lou retired, and Renee graduated, Edie and Lou returned to Battleford, Saskatchewan where they could be closer to many of their siblings and extended family. They came back to Prince Rupert 6 years later after Lou was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and caring for him became too difficult for Edie to manage on her own. They arrived back in town in time for Edie to become a member of Prince Rupert's 75/50 Club! In October 2016 Lou passed away and in May 2017, Edie moved into Acropolis Manor where she lived out her remaining years. She enjoyed her time there, telling anyone who would listen, "It's so nice here, everyone is so kind—if you ever have to go somewhere, this is a good place!". We are so thankful for the loving care she received at the Manor. Thank you, also, to all the doctors who had a hand in Edie's care.
We will miss our mom and hold her in our hearts forever. We are so thankful for our memories and the countless times she slayed us with her humour! We called our visits with her the " Edie Gaudette Comedy Hour"! We love you, Mom... forever and ever.
