November 22, 1915 – April 13, 2016

Della slipped away peacefully in her home on the morning of April 13, 2016 in her 101st year. The way she lived her life has made an indelible imprint on her family, friends, and many acquaintances. She was caring, dedicated, hospitable, quick witted, and very generous. Missing her most, yet treasuring the time we shared with her are her daughter, Janet, her granddaughters, Jaime (Nathan) Rogers and Christa Simonds; great-grandchildren Hailleigh, Lucas, and Garrett Rogers. She will also be deeply missed by her sister-in-law, Johanna Christensen, special nieces Wendy Atchison and Judy Irvine and their families. She was predeceased by her husband, Brick, in 1971, and her son Ronald, in 2005.

When Della was asked at her 100th birthday party what the secret to a long life was, she replied, “a good doctor.” Dr. John Croft – you took such good and tender care of Mom. We are immensely grateful. We are also thankful for the first-rate support of the Community Home Support team and the Palliative Care nurses whose help made keeping Della at home possible.

We will celebrate Della’s life at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at the Presbyterian Church, 233 4th Ave East. Please feel free to join our family in wearing something colourful to the service. Refreshments will be served in the church hall following the service. In lieu of flowers, honour Della’s memory by helping someone in need, encouraging a friend, making amends, or planting something beautiful in a garden.
