September 25, 2019
Debra Walker passed in peace after a recent courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital at the age of 57 years. This is Debra's second battle with cancer as she was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago and fought it, and won the battle, unfortunately for a very short time.
She is survived by her two sons Shawn and Sheldon Walker, her father Lester Walker of Terrace BC, sister Kim (Mitch) Stewart of Haida Gwaii BC. She is also survived by her nieces Catrina (Roy), Trisha and extended family of cousins, aunts and uncles.
Debra was predeceased by her mother Shirley Walker of Terrace BC (1998.)
Debra was a loving person that loved her sons more than the world itself. She loved to talk, she always had something to share. She loved to go out and spend a day with her community worker Doreen by walking, talking, or having an ice cap from Timmies even way before she got sick. She was a strong woman and she taught us strength, love, and she gave us her best.
The family would like to send our extended thank you to Dr. Piek and all the nurses who cared for my sister and mother. We feel so blessed that my sister and mother was in your loving care during her final days. Our loving thanks to each of you that made her feel loved, cared and comforted.
Debra had friends and support workers that cared for her before and during her final days of her life. We would like to thank you for your support during this time. On a special note, I (Kim) would like to thank Kerrie Scott for all you have done for my sister, my nephew, and for me, for being there.
Thank You
You are amazing people.
From the Stewart and Walker family.
