In Loving Memory ~
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Debra Lee (Debbie) Watson after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She will always be one of the strongest people we know.
Debbie was born in Prince Rupert on May 2, 1961, the beautiful, independent, determined, funny, and creative first daughter of Donna and Walter Eisele.
One of Debbie's favorite pastimes was to walk on the beach with her dogs and collect pieces of history in the form of glass, porcelain, and stone. She loved the adventure and potential of finding past treasures uncovered by the changing sea. She prized worn and previously loved objects and holding these gave her the feeling of connecting to time.
She enjoyed researching family history and cherished pictures that brought back lost faces from the past. She also loved breathing new life into old and forgotten recipes. Her dandelion and rosehip jams were favorites.
Debbie was a champion of animal protection and care. On uncountable occasions she would aid in the rescue and care of wild and domestic animals with the Prince Rupert Wildlife Shelter. She was never afraid to help in any way requested and would take on every task with love, patience, and kindness.
For many years she worked as the co-ordinator for the lunch program at Port Edward Elementary School. She took pride in her work and loved what she did not only because she was good at it, but because it brought her closer to her children and to the community.
Debbie was a naturally creative person. She could draw anything from memory, write unforgettable poetry, and fabricate any costume before the days of YouTube. She loved to share her talent with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. In 2006 she painted a mural for the Port Edward Community Centre for which she received an award from the District of Port Edward. Her beautiful and thoughtful work could not have made us prouder.
Debbie is survived by her loving husband John Watson; her children Jessica (Justin), Hollis, Abram, & Lena (Dave); her grandchildren Aubrey, Tova, & Theron; parents Walter & Donna Eisele; siblings Rick (Ambie), & Jennifer (Mike); and her trusty four-legged companion Darwin.

We will love and miss you always, but we will meet again.
