In Loving Memory ~
Candace Davey passed away on April 4, 2022, surrounded by love, listening to her favourite songs. She is survived by her daughter Vanessa (James), sister Cassandra, brother Aleksander, granddaughter Giselle, aunt Edith and numerous cousins.
She was predeceased by her father Alek Bill and mother Ruth Bill.
She was born in April of 1958 in Prince Rupert, BC and grew up there in a beautiful home facing the ocean. In her early years she enjoyed playing sports and running, a hobby that would carry through to marathon running later in life.
Following her graduation from Prince Rupert Senior Secondary School she left to go to Victoria, BC to become a nurse.
She trained at St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing and graduated in 1979. Following in her mother's footsteps, she decided to leave to practice nursing abroad, landing in Australia. There she met the man who she would later marry (Philip), giving her a daughter (Vanessa).
She moved back to Canada prior to the birth of her daughter, stopping in Alberta before settling in Vancouver.
In Vancouver she met her partner that she would spend many years with giving her a most loved dog, Jasper. They loved going to dances, traveling, gardening and going to the pride parade every year; walking with her daughter in the pride parade was a memory she cherished.
Candace remained a nurse for her entire career working at BC Children's Hospital, Shaughnessy Hospital, Vancouver General Hospital and finishing her career at the BC Cancer Agency. She loved being a nurse from her many years working in the operating room to moving into an administrative role prior to her retirement.
She will be remembered for her laugh, her story-telling, her friendship, her beauty, her love of fitness, music and, most of all, animals. More than anything, Candace loved becoming a grandmother; meeting her granddaughter was the self-proclaimed highlight of her life. Even as her illness worsened, her granddaughter could always bring a smile to her face.
Candace's funeral will be held at 10am. on Saturday, May 7th, 2022, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 3789 Royal Oak Avenue, Burnaby, BC. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada and the Canadian Diabetes Association.
