August 24, 1959 - January 31, 2020
Brian was born in Vancouver on August 24, 1959 and passed away peacefully in the arms of his loving wife Andrea on January 31, 2020 after a years-long battle with COPD.
Also survived by his sister Marsha (Doug) and their children Laine, Ross and Claire, and sister Linda (Dan) and their daughter Eve. Mother-in-law Yvonne, brother-in-law Kirk (Pat), nephews Nigel and Connor, sister-in-law Kim (Craig) and nephews Graham and Nathan. Fondly remembered by his extended family in the Netherlands and by countless friends.
Brian thoroughly enjoyed every one of his varied careers. He was a bartender in downtown Vancouver, a BC commercial fisherman during the 1990's, and for almost twenty years he enjoyed operating his band saw mill in Port Edward.
Brian took fashion cues from no one, but he had an unmistakeable style and was instantly recognized for his black Australian stockman's hat and well-worn cowboy boots. He excelled at playing trivia, remembering jokes, debating endlessly, and hunting down the best meat deals in town.
Thank you to Dr. Ryeburn and the incredible team of medical professionals whose exceptional care continued to give him hope.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 22 from 2:00 - 5:00 at Breakers in Prince Rupert.
Brian received word just before his passing that he was being referred for a lung transplant. He would be very honoured if you would consider organ donation in your future.
