Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for the North Coast, with winds expected to reach up to 110 kilometres per hour.

A strong storm developed over northern Vancouver Island this morning and will spread to the north and central coasts during the day. The winds will ease this evening as the storm moves into the Northwest.

Environment Canada further warns that damage to buildings, including shingles and windows, may occur and loose objects may be tossed by the wind. People are encouraged to avoid wooded areas to prevent damage from falling trees or branches.
