The Aboriginal Education Department of Prince Rupert's school district held the Walk to Build Strength on Saturday.
The event was held in recognition of Residential School Truth and Reconciliation week in Vancouver, which was held this week. The event aimed to acknowledge the past, while celebrating the strength of survivors and creating understanding.
Participants walked from Mariner's Park to the Fishermen's Hall, where there was an event that included speeches from residential school survivors.
