The family of 21-year-old Justin Brooks, who was found deceased in the Prince Rupert harbour in March, organized a candle light ceremony at the Rotary Waterfront Park in Prince Rupert in memory of Brooks.

The ceremony also honoured the lives of Emmalee McLean and Kayla Rose McKay, who were also found deceased in or around the harbour. McLean lost her life under mysterious circumstances in 2010, and McKay in 2004.

The Union of BC Indian Chiefs, the BC Civil Liberties Association and the Vancouver Aboriginal Transformative Justice Society are now looking into how RCMP investigate the deaths and disappearances of First Nation people in northern B.C.
