Schools in Port Edward, Skidegate get $50,000 for school playgrounds

Port Edward school will be receiving $50,000 from the province for playground equipment, the government announced today.

Port Edward school will be receiving $50,000 from the province for playground equipment, the provincial government announced today.

The $50,000 is part of $3.3 million being provided to 80 schools across the 60 school districts in the province for the repair, improvement and replacement of playgrounds. Also receiving $50,000 is Sk'aadgaa Naay Elementary in Skidegate.

"Our government is committed to providing students and communities with safe and modern playground facilities to promote play-based learning, physical activity and healthy lifestyles," said Education Minister George Abbott in a statement.
