School District 52 will be starting the annual budget consultation process, announcing the dates of public meetings and online responses.

School District 52 will soon be starting the annual budget consultation process at the beginning of February, announcing the dates of public meetings as well as a new way for people to contribute their responses.

“The board has responded to some comments received from its partner groups and the public. The Proposed Annual Budget Consultation process will go back to three public meetings, and will for the first time include an option for online responses on [the district’s] website.” Said Bart Kuntz, Vice Chairperson of the school board.

The first budget consultation meeting will be held on Thursday, February 2, in the Charles Hays Secondary School Multi-Purpose room at 7:30 p.m. This gathering will be a public information meeting. Additionally, the same day the online survey will be launched on the district’s website, www.sd52.bc.ca, for people to share their thoughts with the board.

The deadline for public submissions to the Board Office will be on Friday, February 17 at 4:00 p.m., before the board reports back to the public on the submissions received on Thursday, March 1 at 7:00 p.m. in the CHSS Multi-Purpose Room. At this public meeting, there may be a possible presentation from partner groups.

Then, on Monday, March 12, at 7:00 p.m. in the CHSS Multi-Purpose Room there will be information on Ministry Funding given out, as well as questions being answered from the March 1 meeting.

The board is expecting the budget to be completed and approved at the regularly scheduled Board meeting on Thursday, April 10, 2012.
