Rushbrook Trail has been partially shut down.

The closure comes after a wicked wind storm Monday night, Dec. 10, uprooted trees and damaged part of the trail.

While the trail is not fully blocked and is still technically usable, authorities don’t want to risk injury by keeping it open.

“Trees collapsed damaging only part of the trail, but it’s a steep grade, so it is still passable by crews, but not safe for running,” sand Sean Carlson the president of the Kaien Island Trail Enhancement and Recreation Society.

The trail will still be open to the public on the Seal Cove end, but the Rushbrook entrance is closed.

The crews working on it have laid down caution flags and barriers around the closure to ensure the safety of those still running the trail, and they are beginning to plan how best to solve the problem.

“We are putting together a game plan to fix this, it’s probably going to be a couple weeks until the public can use it again,” Carlson said.
