RCMP respond to alleged domestic dispute

Prince Rupert RCMP responded to an alleged domestic dispute call on Ninth Avenue East on Saturday afternoon

At approximately 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, a large police presence arrived on Ninth Avenue East in Prince Rupert and cordoned off a section of the street.

Armed uniformed RCMP officers and plainclothes officers reportedly told neighbouring residences to be ready to evacuate their homes and engaged in an brief standoff with a nearby residence.

The incident involved an alleged domestic dispute involving a woman who was armed.

At approximately 1:15 p.m., a woman was taken into custody and the street was unblocked for regular traffic flow by 2 p.m.
