On Oct. 17, 2013 members of the Prince Rupert RCMP General Investigations Section executed a search warrant in the 800 block of Fulton Street.

Upon entry into the residence police located one occupant who was taken into custody. This person was later released on a Promise to Appear for mid-December, and is currently facing criminal charges related to drug trafficking.

Over the course of the search police located a moderate amount of marijuana and Canadian currency which was seized as evidence.

"The RCMP's overriding goal is to ensure safe homes and safe communities for Canadians. We believe that marijuana use and the criminality that surrounds it harms individuals and communities," said Const. Matt Ericson, spokesman for the Prince Rupert RCMP.

"The RCMP's role in relation to illicit drugs isn't simply one of law enforcement; the force also has many initiatives to reduce demand for such substances through prevention and awareness."

As this investigation is ongoing, the Prince Rupert RCMP is asking anyone that may have information regarding this incident to contact the Prince Rupert RCMP Detachment at 250-627-0700 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Please remember that Crime Stoppers pays cash for information that leads to an arrest. We don't want your name, just your information.
