Prince Rupert RCMP seize cocaine and marijuana from 3rd Avenue home

The Prince Rupert RCMP seized $4,700 in cocaine from a home of the 1000 block of 3rd Avenue West last Saturday.

The Prince Rupert RCMP seized $4,700 in cocaine from a home of the 1000 block of 3rd Avenue West on Saturday morning.

There were four people in the residence at the time and three were arrested for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking after the RCMP recovered approximately 47 grams, or 1.5 ounces, of cocaine and related paraphernalia.

The names of a 17-year old female and 24 year old male cannot be released, as the suspects were released on a promise to appear, but police are releasing the name of 24 year old Glen Robert Pollard who is known to police. RCMP have recommended 12 charges against the three individuals, including possession of a controlled substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000, Breach of Recognizance and Breach of Undertaking. Seven of the charges have been laid against Mr. Pollard, four charges are being recommended against the other 24-year-old male and one charge is being recommended against the 17-year-old female.

“The seized cocaine has an estimated street value of $4700.00 but more importantly this amount would supply close to 100 people when sold at the street level" states Cpl. Chamberlain of the Prince Rupert General Investigation Section, noting that 19 grams of marijuana and $450 in cash was also seized.

Mr. Pollard was remanded in police custody and appeared in Prince Rupert Provincial Court on Monday, May 2, 2011. POLLARD has been further detained and remains in custody until his next appearance date of May 16, 2011 in Prince Rupert Provincial Court.. The two other individuals will appear in court on October 24, 2011 at the Provincial Court house in Prince Rupert.
