On August 9, 2011, between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. a female was walking West bound on 11th Avenue East toward Maverick Mart when she noticed a male following a short distance behind her. The male caught up to the female, pulled her into the bushes and assaulted her.
The Prince Rupert RCMP was called a short time later.
The male is described as, approximately 5'6"- 5'8" tall and 130 lbs, with short light brown hair, a light complexion, and possibly aboriginal. The male is in his late 20's and believed to be wearing black and white shorts and a dark colored hoody at the time of the assault.
At this time the Prince Rupert RCMP is looking for more witnesses who may have seen or heard anything in the area of 11th Avenue East between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. related to this incident or this individual. “We understand a crime of this nature raises concern and we want to make the public aware by suggesting all females walking at night be with a friend” states Cst. Laura Lechky of the Prince Rupert RCMP.
“We are seeking the public’s help to generate any new and more information with regards to this ongoing investigation.”
