The All Candidates' Forum originally planned for April 24 has been rescheduled due to the illness of one of the candidates.

Judy Fraser, BC Liberal candidate for the North Coast was admitted to the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital last Saturday, causing the postponement of the all-candidates forum which was set to take place tonight.

“No one is more disappointed about not being out there talking to voters than me,” Fraser said.

Prince Rupert residents will now have the opportunity to question local candidates for election to the provincial legislature at a forum hosted by the Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce at the Highliner Plaza Hotel and Conference Centre on Thursday, May 2. The forum will begin at 7 p.m. Candidates Hondo Arendt of the Green Party of BC, Judy Fraser of the BC Liberal Party, and Jennifer Rice of the BC NDP have all confirmed their attendance.

The moderated meeting will include a combination of prepared questions as well as questions from the audience via written submissions. The written questions will be posed by a panel of students from the Charles Hays Secondary School Debating Society.

This event has been sponsored by Prince Rupert Grain. The BC Northern Real Estate Board will provide refreshments for attendees.

"We feel it is very important to have all of the candidates involved," said Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce Manager Simone Clark.

"With the three local candidates appearing in-person, this forum will be an effective venue for voters to compare party platforms and gain a better understanding of what each candidate has to offer."
