One week after JS McMillan announced the planned closure of its Prince Rupert processing plant, another business in the community was shut down due to cost restructuring.

Please Mum, located in the Rupert Square Mall, is one of 70 casualties across the country announced Monday by the chain.

“As a result of significant shifts in the retail landscape, we’ve had to make tough decisions about the future of our company,” founder and CEO Kathryn Adrian said in a statement posted on Please Mum’s website.

“We’re restructuring our business in the long-term interests of the company, our employees, customers, suppliers, and creditors.”

The company is reducing its retail operations to 21 locations. The only three in BC are in the Lower Mainland.

According to the company’s website, gift cards and credit notes are no longer valid, anything sold on or after July 11 is considered a final sale, and the VIP program and VIP cards are also discontinued.

Currently the storefront is closed with a poster listing contact names and numbers for customer service and creditors.
