The Prince Rupert Rotary Club will be hosting the 47th annual Rotary Auction, where items donated by local businesses will be auctioned off to raise funds that the club will put back into the community through donations and Rotary projects.
This year businesses in the community donated 646 items to be auctioned off, which is down from last year’s 729 items. Rotary Auction co-chair Tim Dressel, says the decrease in items is because of the decrease in businesses in the community, as well as many businesses donating less than they did in the previous year. Items being auctioned off this year include trips, tours, gift certificates, home renovations, beautiful printed pictures, televisions, furniture, food and much more.
As usual, online bidding will be happening first, starting on Monday, November 7 at 6:30 p.m.
“It’s important to get your buyer ID,” commented Dressel, mentioning that people who wish to bid online must first register for a Buyer ID by sending an e-mail to email@example.com that includes their last and first name, address, city they reside in, province they live in, postal code, phone number and e-mail address in that specific order.
The live auction portion will be taking place starting on Monday, November 14, running until Wednesday, November 16, with the auction starting at 6:30 p.m. each of the three days, with bidding taking place until around 10:30 p.m.
Nearly every aspect of the Rotary Auction is the same as last year, except for the bidding increment prices. Last year there were one-dollar bid increments, whereas this year organizers put on different bid increments depending on the value items are worth. Items valued at less than $100 have a bid increment of one-dollar, items valued between $100 and $250 have an increment of $5, between $250 and $1,000 is $10, and anything valued about $1,000 have a bid increment of $25.
