There are 38 vacant job positions with Northern Health in Prince Rupert and 18 are nursing positions, as of Dec. 9.
The health authority has vacancies across the northern region, but Emelye Macfarlane, the regional manager for recruitment at Northern Health, said it’s also a provincial and national struggle.

In an effort to attract nurses to Prince Rupert, Northern Health has featured Shelley Bondy, manager of perioperative services at the Prince Rupert hospital, in new video campaign.
“I had my ability to grow my career here,” Bondy said, who came as a staff nurse and has since stepped into a manager role.
Career growth, and a close connection with nature, are two perks Northern Health highlights in the video produced in July, and released this fall.
The last video campaign featuring Prince Rupert was in 2014 for physician recruitment, starring Dr. Amor Kloppers.
“It’s definitely a new initiative that we’re trying to support brand awareness and showcase the beauty our communities have to offer,” Macfarlane said.
