MLA is still undecided

MLA Gary Coons is still not endorsing any of the NDP leadership candidates, despite indications that he was waiting to see who would be entering the race before making a decision.

MLA Gary Coons is still not endorsing any of the NDP leadership candidates, despite indications that he was waiting to see who would be entering the race before making a decision.

“I think it’s important for people to listen to the policy statements from candidates and to the vision they have not only for British Columbia but for the north. I need to hear what their priorities are as far as education, health care, and the privatization of our public resources, the environment, and the revitalization of the region,” says Coons.

Coons says there are a number of things he wants to see from the next leader of the party. First is education reform, including the scrapping of the Foundational Skills Assessment. He wants to see initiatives towards strengthening health care, a stand taken against privatization of public resources such as ferries and a poverty reduction plan.
