Charred cars and other debris litter the site of Wednesday's fire at Pacific North Coast Mini Storage.

The fire that destroyed Pacific North Coast Mini Storage in Prince Rupert on June 5 is not being treated as suspicious, confirmed Prince Rupert fire chief Dave Mckenzie on Monday morning.

Representatives from the fire department, RCMP, Fire Commissioner's Office and the insurance agency spent the weekend sifting through the debris on the site, but have yet to determine what exactly started the blaze.

"We found 95 per cent of everything we need to determine a cause, but that one key piece is missing," he said, noting that the amount of debris left over and the water under the structure are making it difficult.

"We know what we're looking for and when we find it we'll have a cause ... but it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack."
