Counterfeit bill, stolen property among Prince Rupert RCMP calls for service

On March 2 Prince Rupert RCMP responded to a complaint of a stolen 1998 Red, Dodge Caravan, with a BC license plate. The vehicle was later recovered abandoned in the ditch near Oliver Lake.

On March 2 Prince Rupert RCMP responded to a complaint of a stolen 1998 Red, Dodge Caravan, with a BC license plate. The vehicle was later recovered abandoned in the ditch near Oliver Lake. Police are asking witnesses to come forward if they recall seeing anyone in the area or if they provided anyone a ride from that location.

On March 14 a black Samsung cell phone was turned into the Prince Rupert RCMP detachment. The phone was found on March 11 outside the college.  The cell phone has a dead battery and the RCMP is unable to retrieve information from the phone. If you or someone you know has lost their cell phone please contact the Prince Rupert RCMP with a serial number or description of the phone.

On March 17 Cst. Trask attended Charles Hays Secondary School and provided a drug and alcohol talk to students. The RCMP is dedicated to getting into the schools and speaking with students of all ages regarding a variety of topics. On March 17 the Royal Bank contacted the Prince Rupert RCMP regarding a counterfeit $20.00 bill that had been turned in from a business owner. The bill has been sent to the National Forensic Lab for analysis. This recent event should make all business owners and employees aware that counterfeit bills are being used from time to time. The Prince Rupert RCMP has two Auxiliary Constables trained to provide a presentation on counterfeit bills. Please call the RCMP to set up a FREE presentation on counterfeit bills.

On March 18 RCMP police officers we called to the 200 block of Sherbrooke Avenue by Fire Chief, Dave McKenzie.  Seven mountain bikes (in various stages of being taken apart) were located and seized by police. Two of the mountain bikes were confirmed stolen by their serial numbers and returned to the owners. One bike is currently awaiting the owner to claim it. The Prince Rupert RCMP does not have a serial number on record for this bike. Please contact the Prince Rupert RCMP if you have had a bicycle stolen recently. You will need to provide the serial number or a very detailed description of the bike.
