A collision between a car and a logging truck this morning (Jan. 13) on Hwy 16 near Houston claimed the life of the driver of the vehicle.
Police said the driver of Pontiac Sunfire was pronounced dead at the scene while the truck driver received medical attention.
The highway was closed to vehicle traffic most of the day, but has now been opened to single-lane alternating traffic at McKilligan Road.
“A vehicle and logging truck have been involved in a collision and the highway is closed in both directions. It was reported at 7:24 a.m. and is 9-10 kilometers east of Houston on Highway 16,” RCMP Corporal Madonna Saunderson told Black Press Media earlier today.
Rail traffic was also temporarily disrupted as both vehicles had come to rest on the CN Rail tracks.
Drive BC was reporting slippery conditions in the area at the time of the incident.
Police and Coroners Services investigations are both ongoing.
