Body of deceased man found on Chamberlain Avenue in Prince Rupert

On Feb. 4 the body of a deceased man was located in a parking lot on Chamberlain Avenue.

At approximately 7:40 a.m. on Feb. 4 members of the Prince Rupert RCMP and Emergency Health Services responded to a complaint of a deceased man being located at a parking lot in the 1000 block of Chamberlain Avenue in Prince Rupert.

When RCMP arrived at the scene investigators located the deceased man. Given the location and area in which the body was discovered, members of General Investigation Section and the Terrace Forensic Identification Section were engaged.

At this time the scene has been released and we do not suspect foul play to be a factor, said Const. Matt Ericson, spokesperson for the Prince Rupert RCMP. Currently we have identified the man and he is a Prince Rupert area resident, however we are not releasing his name pending a next of kin notification.

As this investigation is ongoing police are asking for the assistance of the public and anyone who may have witnessed a man walking in the 1000 block of Chamberlain Avenue between Feb. 3 at 5:00 p.m. and Feb. 4 at 7:40 a.m.
