The BC Liberal Party have announced a candidate for MLA of the North Coast riding.

Prince Rupert's Judy Fraser is expected to be acclaimed at a nomination meeting tomorrow evening at the Crest Hotel, giving her until May 14 to build momentum for the upcoming election.

"Today's BC Liberals are focussed on how we can grow B.C.'s economy. Northwest B.C. is in the spotlight right now, so it is critical for this region that we elect a government that is committed to developing our resources responsibly, not a government that will just say 'no' to everything," Fraser said, who has lived in Prince Rupert most of her life.

Fraser has been actively involved in politics in the North Coast riding for 13 years, and currently holds a position as regional director on the BC Liberal Executive, sits on the Prince Rupert Airport Authority board and is an executive for the Prince Rupert Golf Club.

Fraser is also actively involved with the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital, assisting in recruiting and settling new doctors in Prince Rupert.

Fraser is the lone announced competition for Prince Rupert city councillor Jennifer Rice who won the NDP nomination earlier this year.
