BC Ferries releases revised schedule for the All Native Basketball Tournament

BC Ferries has released a revised schedule for the coming week to better suit the needs of players and fans of the All Native Tournament.

BC Ferries has released a revised schedule for the coming week designed to better suit the needs of players and fans of the All Native Basketball Tournament in Prince Rupert.

There will be three straight days of round trip travel between Prince Rupert and Haida Gwaii on February 4, 5 and 6, and returning from Haida Gwaii on February 5, 6 and 7. Later in the week there will be round trip travel on February 9, 12 and 15.

"When we made modifications to the schedule we did it last year knowing the heavy usage and traffic patterns during the tournament...We also know that part way through the tournament fans and athletes might have to leave if the team is eliminated to cut down on costs for hotel and food," explained BC Ferries spokesperson Deborah Marshall.

The result of the shift is a change in when the Inside Passage sailing will be taking place.

"Normally in the first week of February there would be an Inside Passage run, but we moved that February 7 and 8 this year," explained Marshall.

"It's the same number of round trips, we're just juggling around the days to better accommodate the athletes and fans of the All Native Tournament."
