$300,000 dock project allows larger fishing vessels to access Lax Kw'alaams

The ability of Lax Kw'alaams to process fish commercially improved today with the completion of a $300,000 dock repair project.

The ability of Lax Kw'alaams to process fish commercially improved today with the completion of a $300,000 dock repair project.

The money, which came from the federal Small Craft Harbour program, funded the replacement of floats at the dock, which was necessary to allow larger fishing vessels to stop in the community.

"Safe and efficient fishing harbours are critical to those who make their living from the fishery," said Minister Ashfield.

"The project we are announcing today will improve the safety and operational efficiency of this harbour. Our Government continues to invest in coastal communities and prepare Canada's fishing industry for the future."
