A new minor hockey provincial banner will be raised at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre in Prince Rupert on March 29 during the final of the Coy Cup.
The U18 Prince Rupert Seawolves went undefeated in the provincial Tier 4 championship tournament hosted in Prince Rupert March 17 to 20.
On the opening Monday (March 17) the Seawolves beat Golden 8-2 and 100 Mile House 5-3.
The following day (March 18) was a hard-fought battle against Kitimat that ended up tied 3-3, but they then dominated Chase 7-1 the same day.
On March 19, it was Clearwater's turn to fall to the home team in a game that ended 4-2. It was sweet retribution for the Rupert boys to best the team they lost to at provincials in Creston last year.
The championship game on March 20 was a rematch of the opening game of the tournament against Golden and again the Seawolves were up to the task outscoring the Rockets 5 -2.
"It was a great tournament and the boys played well, said head coach Craig Munro. "They came together as a team and persevered through adversity. I am very proud of them.
"It was also very cool to host and win the championship in town. The arena was full on the last game and it was a great crowd."
Kitimat went on to take bronze.
