The Prince Rupert Rampage triumphed 6-3 over the Kitimat Ice Demons at Tamitik Arena on Oct. 5.
Kitimat struck first in the game’s opening period, as Tayden Fowler-McNab scored with only seconds left on the clock. The Rampage answered in the second, with Judd Repole netting two goals, shifting momentum in their favour. Kitimat’s Derek Wakita then responded with his own, bringing himself just one point away from his 200th career point in the CIHL.
The third period belonged to Prince Rupert, with Johnson scoring two goals and Tyler Ostrom adding two of his own. Despite a goal by Gabriel Fowler-McNab for Kitimat, the Ice Demons couldn’t close the gap.
Prince Rupert’s Frank Slubowski held strong in net, while Kitimat’s Hayden Fisk faced an aggressive offensive push from the Rampage.
Penalties also played a role in the match. Prince Rupert logged nine penalties for 26 minutes, including a 10-minute unsportsmanlike conduct for Jared Carter. Kitimat accumulated 10 penalties, totalling 20 minutes.
