Prince Rupert RCMP are currently investigating a hit and run involving a car and a cyclist.

Police said they were called to an incident at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Aug, 26 in the 800 block of McBride Street. A black Toyota Corolla had allegedly struck a cyclist and the driver had left the scene.

The cyclist was transported to hospital and treated for minor injuries.

With help from the public, officers located and seized a suspect vehicle.

“We have received numerous calls regarding the location of the vehicle involved and we are grateful for the community taking action,” said Const. Brody Hemrich in a Prince Rupert RCMP Facebook post.

"Now that we have that vehicle in our secure compound, we are now asking for anyone with dash cam footage or ring door cameras, or eyewitnesses to step forward so that we may understand further what occurred leading up to the collision.”

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Prince Rupert RCMP at 250-624-2135.
