Video surveillance caught perpetrators breaking in and robbing Rupert Meats on Nov. 28.

Prince Rupert RCMP is actively investigating a break-and-enter robbery at Rupert Meats.

Store owner and operator Craig Summers said the incident occurred at about 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 28.

The violators stole the store's main point of sale system and money and broke the store's glass door. The staff is still assessing the stolen goods inventory.

"It's in excess of $5,000, it's a felony amount," said Summers.

He is very grateful for the store's video surveillance, as it caught footage of the perpetrators breaking in and stealing merchandise.

The staff has replaced the door and restored their sales system.

"I'm very thankful that nobody was hurt. Things can always be replaced, but it's sad that this has to happen in our community," said Summers.

Rupert Meats opened back for business on Nov. 29. Manager Yaishia Wishlow estimates the losses are between $5,000 to $7,000.

Prince Rupert RCMP state that their investigation is ongoing and will provide an update early next week.
