Rain expected to turn to snow this week

After a mild start to the winter, temperatures could drop to -9 C by mid-week

Prince Rupert, like many communities across B.C. and Canada, has been starved of snow this winter.

However, rain is expected to shift to snow by the middle of the week starting Jan. 8, with temperatures expected to plummet on the evening of Wednesday, Jan. 10.

After Prince Rupert’s mild start to the winter, temperatures will start to drop, with a low of -9 C expected during the evening of Jan. 10.

The snow is expected to start falling on Jan. 10, when a 60 per cent chance of flurries in the form of mixed snow and rain with a high of -1 C.

Thursday, Jan. 11, is expected to be the coldest day of the week, with a high of -5 C and snow flurries, according to Environment Canada.

Environment Canada’s forecast is:

Tuesday, Jan. 9: 3 C with rain or snow throughout the day.

Wednesday, Jan. 10: -1 during the day with a chance of flurries.

Thursday, Jan. 11: -5 and flurries.
