During the week of July 22, Roosevelt faced multiple incidents of vandalism to the school property including broken windows and doors.
Police say it was the same group of 11-year-old children that caused all the damages.
“They have been identified, and non-criminal measures are taking place to help them understand the impact of their actions,” said Cst. Brody Hemrich from the RCMP.
Generally, adults can be charged with mischief charges for such events, but as these are children under the age of 12, they will face consequences through extra-judicial measures.
These measures include a sit-down meeting with the school district and their parents. As yet, the the full cost of the damages have not been determined. The cost evaluation and the meeting will decide specific consequences for the kids.
Damage to property may be compensated by the children through volunteer hours.
