Port Edward stuck to its municipal “Clean, Neat and Green” motto on May 13, with a second annual community clean-up day.

More than 785 kilograms of garbage, refuse and debris was collected by a group of 12 volunteers who were kept energized with food and sustenance from the Port Edward Volunteer Fire Dept.

The event was organized by Port Edward Event Planners Niki Kristoff, Melanie Mudge, Debbie Thompson and Colleen McDonald, collectively referred to as PEEPS.

The day started just after 10:30 when participants were assigned routes and provided with protective equipment to wear. Volunteers were also rewarded with prizes for their efforts donated by the PEEPS and Kinninick Camp Ground.
