Children participate as fictional characters at the 46th annual Seafest in Prince Rupert in June 2024.

Prince Rupert’s beloved Seafest is celebrating its 47th year in the city from June 13 to 15 with the theme “Shell-A-Brate.”

“Seafest is Prince Rupert’s biggest annual celebration, bringing our community together to honour the spirit, culture, and maritime roots of the North Coast” said the Prince Rupert Special Events Society (PRSES) on Facebook.

PRSES is currently seeking volunteers who can help make the festival a success.

The society is a local non-profit that is organizing this year’s event. The occasion records thousands of visitors each year.

“First launched in 1978, Seafest was created as a way to boost community pride and bring joy to locals during the start of the summer season. Over the years, it has grown into a weekend-long festival filled with a parade, local vendors, food, entertainment, and family-friendly activities — all against the stunning backdrop of our coastal home,” said PRSES.

In addition to attending, community members can participate as vendors, showcasing goods and food or setting up an information-sharing booth.

People can join the parade, bringing their float ideas to life and wowing the crowd creatively.
