Regional artisans and businesses will be on full display tonight for a vibrant and diverse market experience in Cow Bay.
The second annual Lax Süülda Container Market Night Bazaar will take place on Thursday, July 3 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Cow Bay at Northland Cruise Terminal. The community event will feature a wide variety of unique treasures, handmade goods from local vendors, delicious treats, live music and kids' activities for the whole family to enjoy.
Jaimie Angus, marketing and visitor experience manager at Tourism Prince Rupert, said the Container Market has played a vital role in promoting small businesses, enhancing the local economy and enriching Prince Rupert culture.
"There are so many talented people in Prince Rupert and across the North that don't have a storefront or very many opportunities to sell their creations," she said. "We're just trying to provide a cheap place for people to showcase their work and just have more stuff for us to do and inspire more events like this."
Since its pilot season in 2023, the Container Market has become a hub for residents and visitors during night bazaars, farmers markets, community events and cruise ship days, providing opportunities for local artists and vendors to reach wider audiences and strengthen community connections through local culture and commerce. Over 80 locally-run small businesses have since participated in the Bazaar and other events.
"Bring your friends and family for a delightful evening of shopping, eating and supporting local businesses," Lax Süülda organizers stated. "Let’s make this Thursday a memorable one together."
Tonight's event will feature live music by Prince Rupert classic rock and blues band JJ Sway.
