Prince Rupertites will finally get a chance to see a movie shot in and around the city this weekend.
The Island Between Tides hits the local Famous Players Cinemas starting Friday (March 7) for one week only.
During location scouting in 2021, producer Andrew Holmes described it as a "family-orientated, magical world of dark, gothic fantasy."
Prince Rupert filming took place during 2022.
Vancouver actor Paloma Kwiatowski plays the protagonist Lily, a young woman at the centre of this fantasy.
Sometime in the late 1980s, Lily follows a mysterious melody onto a remote tidal island. When she crosses back over at the next low tide, she emerges to a world in which 25 years have passed.
Playing opposite Kwiatowski is Donal Logue, a Canadian-American actor best known for his roles in the hit streaming series Sons of Anarchy and Vikings and the 2000 romantic comedy The Tao of Steve.
The cast, which heavily features Canadian talent, is rounded out by local people in both speaking and non-speaking roles, as well as, extras. Prince Rupert plays a version of itself. Some of the filming locations include Cow Bay, North Pacific Cannery, and Kloiya Bay.
The screenplay is based on an obscure play by Peter Pan author J.M. Barrie.
Showtimes in Prince Rupert are Friday 6:30 and 9 p.m., Saturday 4:10, 6:30 and 9 p.m., Sunday 4:10 and 6:30 p.m. From Monday to Thursday there is one show at 6:30 p.m.
There is currently no information on when or on what streaming services the film will be available.
