Extremely high winds expected to rock Prince Rupert and Haida Gwaii

Winds in the North Coast and Haida Gwaii could reach 120 km/h tonight, Nov. 8.

According to Environment Canada, the strong winds will really begin in Prince Rupert and other communities by the evening, lasting until tomorrow morning.

The wind warning alerted residents to potential damage to buildings, with roof shingles, loose objects and windows particularly at risk.

The warning spans from just north of Klemtu up to the Alaskan border on the coast, while the entirety of Haida Gwaii is under the warning.
