UPDATE: Police expand perimeter of 7th Ave. crime scene

Police cordoned off 7th Avenue between Fulton Street and Taylor Street this morning (Sept. 26) following a violent incident.

UPDATE: Sept. 27, 11:30 a.m.

Police confirm the incident was a homicide with a 56-year-old man being stabbed and dying in hospital a short time later.

UPDATE 9:54 a.m.:

Police have now expanded the perimeter of a crime scene on 7th Avenue West to include the green space behind the street on the 6th Avenue side.

Prince Rupert RCMP currently have 7th Avenue cordoned off between Fulton Street and Taylor Street.

Detachment commander Insp. Gerald Walker confirmed police responded to a violent event at around 6:10 a.m. this morning (Sept. 26) adding the investigation is in its preliminary stages.
