UPDATE:
Police have confirmed that the hold and secure at Pineridge Elementary School earlier today was a request they made of the school.
RCMP detachment commander Gerry Walker said they asked the school to keep the kids inside while they dealt with a situation in the neighbourhood.
"It was just a person who we were dealing with, looking for," Walker explained. "In no way was it thought to be a threat to the public or the school. It was just more of an abundance of precaution. It's like, if we can keep [the children] inside, why not?"
ORIGINAL STORY:
Pineridge Elementary School is currently under a hold and secure.
Principal Andrée Michaud confirmed that the school was asked this morning to keep the kids inside and the school locked because of an undisclosed incident in the neighbourhood, but was unable to provide details.
The Northern View has not been able to reach the RCMP or school district as of this time.
Parents are being told, though, that their kids are safe.
