Prince Rupert families will come together on April 27 for a free, fun-filled Earth Day celebration focused on environmental awareness and community spirit.
The City of Prince Rupert, Tourism Prince Rupert and Prince Rupert Port Authority are bringing a line-up of exciting activities to Seal Cove, running from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
“Coming together on Earth Day is a fun way to acknowledge and celebrate the importance of this day, and demonstrate how we all contribute to the community and its sustainable growth,” said the organizers in a joint statement.
Attendees can look forward to a lively afternoon packed with hands-on fun and entertainment, including painting flower pots, planting seeds, and creating custom bookmarks.
There will also be bean bag toss, giant lawn games, and a Big Northern Lights Dance Group performance. A hot dog cart and a few extra surprises will be on-site to round out the event.
The organizers are working with several local organizations for Earth Day and say it will be a great demonstration of effective collaboration in restoring habitats and revitalizing marine ecosystems.
“Having access to waterfront recreational spaces to bring the community together is important, and we can’t wait to bring free, family fun to everyone on April 27th,” said the organizers.
National Geographic Kids reported that each year, more than a billion people celebrate Earth Day to protect the planet from conditions like pollution and deforestation.
