Alex Mackenzie is heading back to the northwest with a microphone in hand and his dog Finley riding shotgun.
The Prince George native will perform his Happy Camper Comedy Tour at Lester Centre of the Arts on April 25, a stop that’s part of a wider run through the Northwest. Known for his upbeat humour and personal storytelling, Mackenzie has carved out a place on the comedy circuit with his quick wit and warm stage presence.
“I’ve spent my whole life doing music or film and now I’m doing comedy,” Mackenzie said. “At the end of the day, it’s trying to tell a story to a group of people or trying to emit emotions from people, and I think I find a lot of joy in that.”
Before the spotlight, Mackenzie spent his days in coveralls, working as a power engineer and instrumentation mechanic at a pulp mill in Prince George. In 2019, he walked away from the six-figure job, sold his house, and hit the road in a modest RV with his chocolate Labrador, Finley, chasing his dream of making people laugh full time.
That leap of faith paid off. Mackenzie has since performed internationally, including at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, and amassed over 100 million views online. In 2023, his first stand-up special, An Experiment Called Life, landed on Amazon Prime in both the U.S. and UK.
Now billed as a “happiness cheerleader,” Mackenzie has built a reputation for feel-good comedy that feels like a conversation with a close friend. His natural charisma, connection with audiences and knack for turning everyday stories into punchlines continue to draw full houses and devoted fans.
