Terrace River Kings secure back-to-back victories over Prince Rupert Rampage

The Terrace River Kings clinched two consecutive wins against the Prince Rupert Rampage over the weekend, starting with a thrilling 6-5 overtime triumph at the Terrace Sportsplex on Jan.

The Terrace River Kings clinched two consecutive wins against the Prince Rupert Rampage over the weekend, starting with a thrilling 6-5 overtime triumph at the Terrace Sportsplex on Jan. 3 and following up with a decisive 5-1 victory at the Jim Ciccone Centre in Prince Rupert the next night.

Terrace Sportsplex showdown ends in overtime drama

Prince Rupert opened the Jan. 3 game with an early goal from Judd Repole just 59 seconds into the first period. The River Kings responded midway through the frame as Ryan Roseboom netted a powerplay goal, closing the period at 1-1.

The second period saw a flurry of action, with Terrace taking a brief lead just 15 seconds in through Trevor Ebeling’s powerplay goal.

Prince Rupert equalized minutes later via Hunter Johnson, setting the tone for a back-and-forth battle. Roseboom struck again to restore Terrace’s lead, but a powerplay goal by Jared Meers levelled the game at 3-3. Late in the period, Austin Turner put Terrace ahead, only for Drew Fudger to tie the score at 4-4 with a buzzer-beater.

The third period continued the nail-biting action, with Fudger netting his second goal on a powerplay to give Prince Rupert a 5-4 advantage. Terrace responded late in the period, as Connor Onstein’s goal sent the game into overtime.

Turner became the hero of the night, scoring just 2:50 into the extra frame to secure the River Kings' 6-5 victory.

River Kings dominate at the Jim Ciccone Centre

Terrace carried their momentum into the Jan. 4 rematch, dominating from the start.

Trevor Ebeling scored within the first minute, putting Terrace up 1-0 after the first period. Brandon Onstein added to the lead early in the second, but Prince Rupert narrowed the gap to 2-1 with a Reid Lindsay goal.

The River Kings quickly regained control as Colten Braid capitalized on a powerplay opportunity, and Carter Shannon scored late in the period to extend the lead to 4-1.

In the final period, Shannon struck again on a powerplay at 3:58, sealing a commanding 5-1 win for Terrace.
