Prince Rupert Rampage delivered a crushing 11-3 victory over the Kitimat Ice Demons at Jim Ciccone Civic Centre on Nov. 30.
David Leite gave Kitimat a brief glimpse of hope, opening the scoring at 2:07 of the first period. However, that lead quickly dissolved when Brody Hemrich equalized for Prince Rupert. Hemrich’s goal set off a torrent of scoring, as Judd Repole, Marcus Atchison, and Kory Movold each found the net, closing the first period with a dominant 4-1 lead for the home side.
The second period solidified Rampage’s control. Hemrich added his second goal just minutes in, while Repole, Thomas Robinson, and Justin Brand joined the scoring frenzy, expanding the lead to an imposing 10-2 by the period’s end. Kitimat managed two goals through Tanner Daum and Leite, but their efforts couldn’t slow the Rampage’s offensive onslaught.
As the game progressed, frustrations boiled over for the Ice Demons, culminating in escalating penalties during the final period. Kitimat racked up 54 penalty minutes in the third alone, part of a staggering 64 minutes from 12 infractions across the game. Prince Rupert, with 32 minutes from eight penalties, maintained composure and a disciplined defence to protect their lead, despite a scoreless final frame.
Kitimat next faces the Williams Lake Stampeders on Dec. 7, followed by a matchup against the Quesnel Kangaroos on Dec. 8, both on home ice. The Rampage will travel to Smithers on Dec. 7 to take on the Steelheads.
The Terrace River Kings lead the league with a dominant nine wins from ten games, earning 18 points. Prince Rupert Rampage sit mid-table with four wins and three losses for eight points, while Kitimat Ice Demons trail with just two wins and one overtime loss, giving them five points. At the bottom, the Nechako Northstars have managed only one win in 10 games for a league-low two points.
