Vancouver-based Mascall Dance presented “The White Spider” at the Lester Centre of the Arts this weekend

On Friday, October 21, Mediterranean musician known as Pavlo enthralled audience members at the Lester Centre of the Arts.

Spectrum City Dance welcomed two of their Alumni to teach at their annual Chance to Dance Summer School.

Theatre fans in the community have something to look forward to, as the thirteenth annual Udderfest, full of hilarity and drama, will be starting in just a week, on Wednesday, August 3 with performances taking place until August 7.

Music lovers will want to make their way to Tlell on Haida Gwaii during the first weekend of August for the Edge of the World Music Festival, with the 2011 offering promising to be bigger than festivals of years past.

The Haida Heritage Centre in Skidegate is publishing the first book on the Haida language and the last of its fluent speakers as part of a larger exhibition on the subject.

Despite the rain and wind that marked most of the July long weekend on the North Coast, Saturday was fairly mild and gave way for the Prince Rupert Community Arts Council to follow through with Kitson Island Days, a celebration of BC Parks 100th Anniversary, held at Kitson Island, southwest of Port Edward.

Earlier this month, B.C.’s Environment Minister, Barry Penner, encouraged people in the province to partake in celebrations in commemoration of 100 years of provincial parks, and the Prince Rupert Community Arts Council and Prince Rupert Community Band will be doing just that by hosting a concert and various other nature-related fun activities taking place on Kitson Island on July 2 and July 3.

Over the weekend dancers from Spectrum City Dance took to the stage to present their year-end performance over two days.
