Over the weekend, Prince Rupert Secondary School and Charles Hays Secondary School hosted the Northwest high school drama festival at the Lester Performing Arts Centre that had around 150 youth from seven schools around the region putting on thirteen different productions competing for Provincials.

On Saturday, February 26, the North Coast Performer’s Society presented the 14th annual Celtic Night that included Irish and Celtic dancing and fantastic musical artists at the Lester Centre of the Arts.

Prince Rupert has always been home to some of the most interesting acts and performances, and the show this Thursday is no exception.

Last Saturday pianist Alexander Tselyakov graced Prince Rupert audiences at the Lester Centre of the Arts with his astonishing musical talents as part of the Prince Rupert Concert Society’s concert series.

The Alcan String Quartet played at the Lester Centre on Friday night to a small crowd of classical music lovers.

Celtic Night, the annual celebration of Irish culture, will take place at the Lester Centre of the Arts on February 26, and this year features some world class entertainment coming to Prince Rupert.

Starting last Friday, many locals took part in the Creative Jam 2011, a series of workshops on four fine-arts disciplines that were “jamming” on a common theme of “learn-create-improvize-perform” with a public presentation of the pieces created on Sunday.
