Last Saturday pianist Alexander Tselyakov graced Prince Rupert audiences at the Lester Centre of the Arts with his astonishing musical talents as part of the Prince Rupert Concert Society’s concert series. Tselyakov started his concert career at the age of nine with the State Philharmonic Orchestra in his native Soviet Union. Since then he has gone on to win multiple competitions including the VIIIth International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, and recorded many albums in the studio. Tselyakov has an extremely impressive amount of performing experience being part of orchestras such as the Leningrad Philharmonic, the Moscow Philharmonic, the Prince George Symphony Orchestra, as well as countless others. During his concert in Prince Rupert, Tselvakov stunned and captivated the crowd with his playing. One of the many highlights of the evening was Tselyakov’s rendition of “Twelve Portraits”, a very difficult piece that was a perfect display of his unbelievable skills. Throughout the concert, Tselyakov demonstrated the definition of “lighting fast fingers” while performing. His fingers travelled up and down the keys, playing exceptional music that left the audience wanting more. The next concert performance in the series will be by musician Harry Manx, who mixes blues and the depth of Indian ragas together, on Saturday, March 26 at the Lester Performing Arts Centre.
