Rock or Bust was certainly the theme when the Vancouver AC/DC tribute band rocked the house at the Lester Centre on August 12, followed by a Hazelton performance on August 13.
Classic rock fans danced while soaking up the music decibels at the stage front, with more than 300 rockers in Prince Rupert cheering and chanting for an encore from the band founded just three years ago in 2019.
“The show went very well, and the band definitely shook the place all night long,” Chris Armstrong, Lester Centre manager, said.
Audience members were encouraged to rock on by hand smacking from Prince Rupert-raised frontman, Kim Kahl, who took on the role of lead vocalist Bon Scott/Brian Johnson and with the guitar pick tossing Robbie MacDougal on lead guitar who presents as one of the original bands founding brothers Angus Young. Not to be outdone by frontline characterizations, the rifts and beats were pumped out by Robert Graves as Malcolm Young on rhythm guitar, Rodney Sneft as Phil Rudd on drums, and Owen Owen as Cliff Williams on bass guitar.
The tribute performers delighted audience members with selfies during the performance of hits such as Highway To Hell, Shook Me All Night Long, Hells Bells, Back In Black and many of the other classic rock songs by the 1973 Australian-formed AC/DC.
While there were many show stoppers, a rift at the front of stage with a concertgoer being removed for unruliness did, in fact, stop the show while the disturbance was sorted out. However, the night was an overall “who made who” success.
“From what I saw in the theatre and from conversations in the lobby, everyone thought the show was great, and they left with smiles on their faces,” Armstrong said.
