The Kaien Island Elders from the Friendship House are calling out for much needed volunteers to help out on a few popular events taking place this summer.

This year the number of people volunteering for events has significantly gone down compared to previous years according to George Sampson from the Friendship House, who mentioned that there are usually a lot more people willing to give their time for events.

The Kaien Island Elders are in need of volunteers for three events occurring in the near future. These events include Seafest, with volunteers being needed for Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12, National Aboriginal Day taking place on Tuesday, June 21, and Canada Day on Friday, July 1. People lending their time would be doing tasks such as set up and take down, cooking, transportation, cashiers, dishwashing, etc.

People willing to help out the group can do so by contacting George Sampson from the Friendship House at 250-627-1717 ext. 26 from nine a.m. to five p.m.
